Liverpool supporters have expressed their disappointment with head coach Arne Slot after he seemingly retracted his previous statements concerning the club’s summer transfer strategy.
At 46 years old, Slot is on the brink of winning his first Premier League title, with Liverpool needing only six points from their last six matches to match Manchester United’s record of 20 league titles.
A loss for Arsenal against Ipswich Town on Sunday, coupled with a Liverpool victory over Leicester City, would secure the championship for them.
Slot’s achievements are particularly noteworthy considering the club made only one significant signing prior to the 2024/25 season — Federico Chiesa.
While the contract extensions for Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have provided some hope, many fans feel that additional signings are essential.
Earlier this month, after Salah’s contract renewal, Slot indicated that Liverpool was gearing up for an active summer, stating:
“We’ve worked hard — and by we, I mean the ownership, Michael Edwards, and Richard Hughes — to achieve that… we will make this team very strong next season.”
