.Leroy Sane, the winger for Bayern Munich, has reportedly declined offers from both Arsenal and Liverpool, opting instead to extend his contract with the Bundesliga club. His current deal is set to expire this summer, and earlier in the season, there were suggestions that Bayern might part ways with at least one winger, potentially including Sane, who has struggled to secure a consistent position in Vincent Kompany’s starting eleven.
With the freedom to entertain offers from other clubs, Sane attracted interest from Arsenal, where manager Mikel Arteta previously collaborated with him at Manchester City.
Speculation also linked him to Manchester United, and there were reports of Liverpool’s interest earlier this year.
However, despite this attention, Sane is believed to have finalized an extension with Bayern.
According to Christian Falk, the winger has turned down Arsenal and Liverpool to commit to the Bundesliga champions until 2028.
It is reported that Sane has accepted a considerable pay reduction to remain with Bayern, where his teammates Harry Kane and close friend Jamal Musiala have been supportive of extending his contract.
Kompany has handed Sane 16 Bundesliga starts this season and a further 11 outings off the bench.
He has racked up ten goals and five assists in that time, almost all of which have come in 2025 after establishing himself as a key player for the Belgian boss more recently.
Such impact could have been huge for both Arsenal and Liverpool.
The Premier League’s top two will look for attacking reinforcements and the chance to snap up a player of Sane’s calibre on a free transfer was understandably appealing.
Now forced to look elsewhere, Arsenal are known admirers of Athletic Club winger Nico Williams, while Liverpool’s efforts are focused on signing a central striker after Mohamed Salah ended the uncertainty over his own future by penning a new contract at Anfield.
