Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, has acknowledged his sense of ‘responsibility’ to secure a Premier League title that supporters can genuinely celebrate.
The Reds claimed the trophy in the 2019/20 season under circumstances where the stadium was empty due to COVID-19 restrictions, preventing fans from attending and celebrating the club’s first league title in three decades with a parade.
Slot is determined to rectify that situation this time.
As Liverpool prepares to host Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday, they need only one point to enable their supporters to celebrate a title victory properly.
‘It is a significant responsibility because we recognize that the last time this club won the league, it was during the COVID period,’ Slot stated during his pre-match press conference.
‘Everyone is eagerly anticipating Sunday, but we still have a task to complete, which is to secure one point.
We hope our fans understand this and continue to support us as they have throughout the season.

Although Liverpool is favored to succeed on Sunday, Slot cautioned fans that Tottenham will not easily concede the title.
‘The match must be played against a Tottenham team that is striving for something significant in the Europa League,’ Slot added.
‘They aim to approach it in the best possible manner.
Our focus is solely on our next opponent, which is Tottenham.
We will prepare the team as we have all season, and we hope the players can maintain the same mentality and energy, with the fans doing the same.’
