Alexander Isak’s representative has disclosed a startling update regarding the future of the Newcastle United star in light of connections to Liverpool.
During the summer transfer window, the future of Newcastle striker Isak has emerged as one of the most significant ongoing narratives, as multiple clubs attempt to lure him away from St James’ Park.
In recent weeks, the connections between the Swedish international and Liverpool have intensified, with Arne Slot allegedly considering the 25-year-old to be his ideal summer acquisition.
However, in spite of Liverpool presenting a world-record transfer fee estimated to be around £120 million, it seemed that Newcastle was resolute in their choice to retain their star player this summer.
Nevertheless, a recent update from Isak’s agent might have significantly opened the possibility for a surprising transfer.
Newcastle has made it clear that Isak will remain with the team this summer, prompting Liverpool to pursue a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, who has reportedly signed with the Reds for a fee of up to €95m (£82.5m).
However, the Isak situation may not be resolved just yet, as his representative Gonzalo Gaitan has commented on the matter to the Saudi Arabian newspaper Arriyadiyah, amidst recent connections between the striker and various Saudi Pro League clubs. He stated: “We are indeed studying and analysing all options, and we may be close to finalising the next step for the player, without disclosing any specifics about whether Isak will transfer or remain with Newcastle.”
While several Saudi Arabian teams are reportedly keen on acquiring Isak, it is currently thought that Al Hilal would be the most probable destination should he decide to leave England this summer.
Current manager Simone Inzaghi is said to hold Isak in high regard, with Al Hilal willing to present a substantial financial offer to persuade both the club and the player to finalize a deal.
Despite both Newcastle and Al Hilal being owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, it is not anticipated that this would create any issues regarding a potential transfer if it were to proceed.
