A journalist covering Liverpool FC has shared significant news regarding the future of Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak, who has been associated with a potential transfer to the Premier League champions this summer.
Isak, aged 25, has attracted interest from multiple clubs in recent months, including Arsenal and PSG, but Liverpool appears to be the most probable destination should he decide to depart from Newcastle.
On Monday, it was reported that the player is keen on leaving Newcastle, with Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio stating, “For Isak, it depends on Newcastle, as the player has spoken with the coach and the club at the end of the season because he wishes to leave, but Newcastle is not currently receptive to that.” He further noted that “it hinges on the discussions between Newcastle and Isak, regarding whether the club will consider placing him on the market.”
In the meantime, Graeme Bailey from Rousing The Kop asserted that Liverpool has shown interest in the player, stating that “it’s going to come to a head” shortly.
Bailey remarked: “Isak has consistently been a topic of discussion. I have confidence in my sources regarding him and the information we are receiving.
“Newcastle is prepared to alter their wage structure for a new contract for him, but Liverpool is closely monitoring the negotiations, and it’s expected to reach a critical point very soon. There hasn’t been much communication from Newcastle’s side, so we await the outcome.
“He further stated: “Liverpool is undeterred; we are uncertain as to the reasons behind this, but they appear to believe there is a glimmer of hope.
As long as this new contract remains unsigned, that situation will persist.
“Bailey also suggested that Liverpool might acquire the Swedish player at a reduced price of approximately £120-130 million, contingent upon whether the player declines a new contract proposal from the Magpies.
Should Isak decide to leave the North East of England for the North West, he would join an already illustrious Liverpool team, which has been enhanced by the recent signings of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong this summer.
