Liverpool Fan Paddy Pimblett Explains Why He Booed Trent Alexander-Arnold vs Arsenal

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure from Liverpool has emerged as one of the most convoluted transfer stories in recent Premier League history.

However, it is the sense of betrayal that has left a bitter taste among Liverpool supporters. UFC star Paddy Pimblett shares this sentiment.

The UFC lightweight fighter and proud Liverpudlian has expressed strong criticism regarding Alexander-Arnold’s actions during the 2025 season, which ultimately resulted in the England right-back transferring to the prestigious European club, Real Madrid.

Trent became a member of the Liverpool academy at the age of six in 2004, and he went on to make 354 appearances between 2016 and 2025.

Throughout this period, he played a pivotal role in helping his childhood club achieve eight major trophies, including the Premier League title for this season.

Trent’s input has been vital to Liverpool’s distinctive attacking approach over the past decade; however, Pimblett believes that the manner in which he orchestrated his transfer to Madrid constitutes a betrayal to both his local club and city.

Not one to shy away from expressing his views, Pimblett has articulated the depth of his personal connection to Liverpool.

“I was present,” disclosed Pimblett in a video shared on UFC on TNT Sports’ X account. “Indeed, I booed. I will be truthful, mate. I will not pretend otherwise, mate, I booed.

“A woman seated in front of me attempted to disapprove by shaking her head at me.

I responded, ‘What are you shaking your head for?’ He still wears a Liverpool shirt.

I thought, ‘It is irrelevant; he is now a Real Madrid player.’ He is a traitor and he betrayed us. It is as straightforward as that.
