Steven Gerrard Urges Arne Slot to Sign ‘Big Talent’ For Liverpool

Steven Gerrard has called on Liverpool to acquire a football superstar, referring to him as a ‘significant talent.’ In Arne Slot’s inaugural season in England, the Reds secured their second Premier League title and dominated their rivals. They concluded the season with a 10-point lead over Arsenal, who finished in second place, and instead of reveling in their success, they have promptly begun preparations for the next season, aiming to assemble a squad capable of retaining their title.

Although they have lost Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid, Liverpool has already brought in Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong as his replacement.

However, he is not the only player expected to join the ranks at Anfield.

The club has been associated with several promising talents, indicating that it will be a very active summer for Slot and his team.

Although they have finalized a deal to acquire Frimpong, Liverpool is not intending to ease their efforts just yet.

They have been associated with several players as they aim to rejuvenate their squad at Anfield and defend their Premier League title in the upcoming season.

With Andy Robertson set to take a step back during 2024/25, the Reds have pinpointed Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez as a possible enhancement.

The left-back has shown remarkable performance for the Cherries, and according to reports, he may be heading to Anfield before the summer concludes.

Additionally, they have expressed interest in AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, and the Portuguese star is reportedly receptive to the prospect of relocating to Merseyside.

Another player they are eager to incorporate this summer is Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz.

However, the process may not be simple, as they have already had two offers for the attacking midfielder turned down.

Nevertheless, they should persist in their efforts.

This is the belief of Liverpool legend Gerrard, who recently shared his thoughts on the matter.

Following a series of outstanding seasons in Germany, Liverpool has expressed interest in Wirtz; however, they will need to exert considerable effort to entice him away from Leverkusen.

They have already submitted several bids for him, yet have encountered no success thus far. Gerrard is eager to finalize a deal for the German player.

During an interview, the former midfielder was inquired about any specific player he wished to see Liverpool acquire this summer, and he mentioned the German talent.

Gerrard stated: Wirtz has dedicated his entire career to Leverkusen up to this point and has consistently impressed, but the 2024/25 season elevated his performance to an entirely new level.

Although his team was unable to retain their Bundesliga title, he had an exceptional season.

Wirtz participated in 45 matches across all competitions, starting in 36 of them.

During this period, he netted 16 goals and provided 14 assists.

Analyzing his performance on a per-game basis, he averaged 2.51 shots, 2.02 passes, and 2.33 dribbles.

He played a pivotal role in the style of play under Xabi Alonso and would represent a significant addition to the Liverpool squad if they succeed in securing a transfer.
