Liverpool ‘Include’ Surprise Striker Target on Four-Player Shortlist

Victor Osimhen is among the strikers that Liverpool are reportedly “considering” during the summer transfer window, according to a recent report.

The agile Nigerian forward has been a regular feature in transfer rumors for several years.

Following extensive speculation linking him to clubs such as Manchester United and Chelsea, Osimhen seemed poised for a Premier League transfer last summer, only to be sidelined by Napoli’s pricing.

In September 2024, the Italian club reached an agreement with their departing striker, allowing Osimhen to be loaned to Galatasaray for the 2024–25 season, contingent upon him signing a new contract that allegedly includes a significantly lower release clause.

After a championship-winning season marked by an impressive tally of 37 goals in 41 matches, Osimhen has once again caught the attention of various European clubs.

Liverpool is reportedly among this competitive group of interested parties, as stated by Sky Sports.

The Premier League champions have already made moves in the current transfer window.

Jeremie Frimpong has taken over the right-back position from the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold, while discussions regarding Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz are believed to be ongoing.Nevertheless, Sky reports that acquiring a striker is a priority for Arne Slot.

The report identifies three known targets—Alexander Isak, Benjamin Šeško, and Hugo Ekitiké—alongside Osimhen.

Newcastle United has effectively removed Isak from consideration this summer with a steep £150 million ($202.9 million) valuation.

Šeško may not be significantly less expensive if recent reports of his £92.5 million ($124.8 million) asking price are accurate, while Ekitiké is hardly a cost-effective option at approximately £85 million ($115 million).

Numerous reports indicate that Osimhen’s buyout clause has been established at £63 million ($85.2 million), although competing interest could potentially drive that price higher.
