The Liverpool duo of Luis Díaz and Darwin Núñez are reportedly on the radar of Saudi Pro League clubs this summer, although the impact of Cristiano Ronaldo’s uncertain future on negotiations remains a topic of discussion.
Despite securing a record-equalling 20th top-flight title, Liverpool is undergoing a significant squad transformation this summer.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been succeeded by Jeremie Frimpong, and there have been several staggering offers for Florian Wirtz, a former teammate of the Dutchman at Bayer Leverkusen.
Should Wirtz arrive at Anfield this summer, it would suggest a shift in attacking strategy for Arne Slot.
Díaz might be one of the players to depart, as Al Nassr is believed to have a “genuine interest” in the Colombian forward, according to The Telegraph.
Díaz is also the target of an open pursuit from Barcelona and has reportedly turned down Liverpool’s attempts to extend his contract, which is set to expire in June 2027.
While a transfer to Catalonia would be complicated by Barcelona’s financial difficulties, Al Nassr does not face such constraints.
The extraordinarily wealthy Saudi Arabian club could potentially have additional funds available if Cristiano Ronaldo declines a new contract offer.
The iconic forward has mentioned the “end of a chapter” amid numerous links with various teams participating in this summer’s Club World Cup. Al Nassr is currently negotiating to renew Ronaldo’s contract, and The Telegraph asserts that any interest in Díaz is separate from the future of the Portuguese star.
However, The Guardian indicates that Liverpool’s No. 7 is being considered for the same jersey in Riyadh.
The same report also suggests that Díaz’s teammate Núñez is a target for the Saudi powerhouse Al Hilal.
The mercurial striker has been heavily linked with a summer exit after a disappointing campaign.
There have been suggestions of a return to Spain, with Atlético Madrid regularly floated as a potential destination, although the Saudi Pro League do have longstanding interest in a player who almost moved to the Kingdom in January.
