Fans can’t get enough of Jeremie Frimpong’s first Liverpool interview as he opens up on being teammates with Mo Salah

Jeremie Frimpong has conducted his inaugural interview as a Liverpool player, merely days after signing a long-term contract with the Premier League champions.

The 24-year-old right-back, who is largely regarded as the successor to Trent Alexander-Arnold following his transfer to Real Madrid this summer, has joined Arne Slot’s team for a fee of £29.5 million, which corresponds to the amount of his release clause at Bayer Leverkusen.

Having been part of the Leverkusen squad that secured the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal titles in the 2023/24 season, Frimpong has continued to showcase his talent in recent months, making 53 appearances across all competitions as they concluded the league campaign in second place behind Bayern Munich.

Now, he will link up with some of his Netherlands teammates – Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo – as well as star players Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah.

In fact, Frimpong was asked about Salah’s presence at the Anfield club in his first interview with Liverpool’s official channel this week, and his excitement at the prospect of playing alongside him was there for all to see.

“Playing with world-class players as a footballer is a great feeling,” he said, as seen in the above clip.

It’s a privilege, like, ‘I’m going to be next to Mo Salah!’ Not just him, the whole Liverpool squad.

Just Liverpool in general, this is a privilege, a blessing that I can be part of it.

But I can’t wait to link up with him – hopefully we link up well.

I’m excited for these things, 100 percent.

“Here’s how fans on social media reacted to the comments on Salah.

One said: “Never give him media training please,” while a second wrote: “Love him already.

He’s fully aware of how lucky he is to be a Liverpool player.

“A third commented: “Frimpong is actually a fan, so refreshing to hear.”
