Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has acknowledged that he continues to communicate with officials from the Saudi Pro League regarding a potential transfer in the future.
Salah commenced the 2024–25 season by entering the final year of his contract, and numerous public statements have made it quite evident that he was on the verge of departing on a free transfer.
However, the Egyptian ultimately reached an agreement for a two-year contract extension.
At one stage, Saudi dealmakers were believed to be optimistic about finalizing a deal for Salah, who disclosed to ON Sport that he would have moved to the Middle East had he not renewed his contract with Liverpool.
“It was a good opportunity for me; if I hadn’t renewed with Liverpool, it would have occurred,” he stated.
“My relationship with individuals there [in Saudi Arabia] remains positive and ongoing.
There were serious discussions regarding my signing.”
