Man Detained As Car Ploughs Through Crowd During Liverpool Trophy Parade

Disturbing events have overshadowed Liverpool’s open-top bus parade, as video footage has surfaced showing a car crashing into some of the thousands of supporters who had gathered along the streets.

Following their title victory in late April, the team postponed their celebrations until the season finale on Sunday, when they were finally awarded the championship trophy.

This was succeeded by the trophy parade on Monday, which commenced at 2pm.

Thousands of individuals traveled from various parts of the country to partake in the festivities, but the celebratory mood took a dark turn shortly after 6pm when a vehicle seemingly struck multiple people.

Footage circulating on social media documented the police’s response at the location, and an update has confirmed that a man has been taken into custody.

A statement from Merseyside Police released shortly after read: ‘We are currently dealing with reports of a road traffic collision in Liverpool city centre.

We were contacted at just after 6pm today, Monday 26 May, following reports a car had been in a collision with a number of pedestrians on Water Street.

“The car stopped at the scene and a male has been detained.

Emergency services are currently on the scene. We will issue more updates as we have them.”
