Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, remained tight-lipped regarding a potential transfer for Bayer Leverkusen’s right-back, Jeremie Frimpong.
Reports indicate that an agreement was reached over the weekend to bring Frimpong to Anfield, with the Reds activating a release clause estimated at €35 million (£29.4 million, $39.3 million).
He commenced his medical examination on Sunday and completed the necessary physical assessments on Monday.
Various sources have since verified that Frimpong successfully passed his medical, leaving only the official announcement of his transfer to Anfield pending.
Those anticipating an early statement from Slot were left unsatisfied, as he refrained from disclosing specific details—mirroring his approach when questioned about the contract statuses of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the player Frimpong is expected to replace.
When asked if the 24-year-old had completed his medical, Slot responded, “What do you think?” He added, “I think what we all know is that the moment we announce it, that is the moment to discuss it in general.
We haven’t announced anything, so there is no need to talk about anyone.
” Frimpong is poised to be Liverpool’s first signing of the summer, as the club is also pursuing a deal for Bournemouth’s left-back, Milos Kerkez.
Discussions have taken place with the Cherries, and Kerkez is believed to be keen on the move to Anfield.
Additionally, Slot aims to acquire a new center-back and striker, while there is speculation that Liverpool may negotiate a deal for departing Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.
