Jeremie Frimpong is reportedly on the verge of finalizing a transfer to Liverpool this summer, as stated by the German publication Kicker.
The club has been actively seeking a new right-back following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s announcement of his departure on a free transfer this summer.
Although the summer transfer window has not yet commenced, Liverpool has acted swiftly to secure a new right-back, selecting Frimpong as his successor.
Kicker indicates that negotiations between the Dutch international and Liverpool are progressing well, with a positive outcome anticipated shortly.
Liverpool is prepared to trigger Frimpong’s release clause, estimated at around €40 million, and he is expected to sign a five-year contract with the club, lasting until 2030.
Frimpong, 24, played at Anfield earlier this season, as he featured for Leverkusen in their Champions League clash against Liverpool in November.

Liverpool ran out comfortable 4-0 victors thanks to four goals in the final 30 minutes.
Despite the heavy scoreline, Frimpong had a good game for the German side.
He looked dangerous in attack and thought he had given the away side the lead just before half-time when he raced through on goal before producing a neat finish past Caoimhin Kelleher, only to see the offside flag raised.
Per Sofascore, he completed 22 of his 24 passes, won five of his six duels and produced three key passes.
He was given a match rating of 7/10, the third highest among Leverkusen players.
Liverpool fans have been making their feelings clear about Frimpong’s performance after his highlights emerged on X.
One praised his display, saying: “Carried a threat all match, loved the way he took his disallowed goal, top player”, while another commented: “He’s rapid. Always wants to run in behind, he holds his line well then he’s going to be a nightmare for EPL defences that play high lines. Comfortable on the ball too.”
Some Liverpool fans have expressed their concern about how he will function in a back four, though.
One said: “It would be a weird signing in my opinion because he is more a winger then a right-back”, while another stated: “No doubt he’s superb going forward, can only hope he will develop his defensive game a bit more if we do sign him.”
