Alexander Isak is reportedly requesting £300,000 per week to agree to a new contract with Newcastle United, amidst interest from both Liverpool and Al-Hilal, as stated by talkSPORT.
The Magpies are aiming to enhance their squad this summer following their qualification for the Champions League for the 2025/26 season. However, they have only managed to secure Sweden international Anthony Elanga for their attacking lineup in a £55m transfer from Nottingham Forest thus far.
The club has missed out on several of their primary targets in this transfer window, but their most significant challenge currently lies in fending off interest from Premier League champions Liverpool regarding their star striker.
Isak, often referred to as ‘the best striker in the world’, has become a significant target for numerous elite clubs across Europe following an outstanding season at St James’ Park.
Recently, The Reds have expressed their interest in acquiring Isak, informing the Magpies that they are prepared to surpass their transfer record for the second time within the same transfer window, subsequent to the signing of Florian Wirtz earlier this summer. However, Newcastle has no intention of selling Isak and instead aims to secure him with a new contract.
The 25-year-old remains under contract until 2028, but Newcastle is eager to ensure his long-term commitment, and it has now come to light that the striker is requesting £300,000 per week to renew his contract on Tyneside.
Newcastle, however, are reticent to match those demands as it would smash the wage structure currently in the club, but also don’t want to be forced into a sale later down the line.
Isak has reportedly given the green-light to an exit to Liverpool, while his agents have also held talks with PIF owned Saudi club Al-Hilal and he is open to making the switch to the Middle East. Arsenal have also shown an interest, but their attention is currently on sealing a deal for Viktor Gyokeres instead.
