The wages that Liverpool intends to offer their new signing, Hugo Ekitike, have been disclosed, indicating that the French talent is poised to become one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League. The 23-year-old is on the verge of signing with the English champions following a £79 million agreement reached between the Reds and his current club, Eintracht Frankfurt.
Ekitike is anticipated to serve as the central figure in Arne Slot’s offensive strategy, taking over from Darwin Nunez, despite his relative lack of experience at the highest level. Nevertheless, even though he has only had one season in which he scored 20 or more goals, the Anfield club is willing to offer him a salary comparable to that of some of the leading strikers in global football.
According to Patrick Berger from Sky Sports Germany, Ekitike is poised to earn a salary ranging from €15 to €16 million annually, which translates, at the lower end, to approximately £250,000 each week. This would represent a substantial increase in pay for the former PSG star, who, as reported by Capology, currently receives a base salary of £58,319 weekly.Not only does this signify a considerable leap for the player, but it is also expected to significantly impact Liverpool’s wage structure, as the striker will become the club’s third-highest paid player, following Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.In addition, other recent signings, Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, have been offered salaries of £195,000 per week and £100,000 per week, respectively, indicating that they are still far from matching their future teammate, if the report is accurate.
Furthermore, this new salary surpasses that of other forwards in the squad, including Nunez, who earns £150,000 per week, Cody Gakpo, who receives £120,000 per week, and Luis Diaz, who has a notably low salary of £55,000 per week.
Both Salah and Van Dijk were handed pay rises after their drawn-out contract talks last season, while Trent Alexander-Arnold opted to leave the club to join Real Madrid.
However, even his new wage in the Spanish capital (£277,000 p/w) is almost matched by Ekitike, who is yet to prove himself at the most elite level.
