Spanish authorities have issued an update regarding the investigation into the tragic deaths of former Liverpool player Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, revealing their suspicions about the identity of the driver involved in the fatal car accident.
The two brothers unfortunately lost their lives in the early hours of July 3 when the Lamborghini they were in crashed and ignited, with initial reports suggesting that a tyre may have burst while they were attempting to overtake another vehicle.
Jota was reportedly en route to Santander to board a ferry back to Merseyside, having been advised against flying due to recent minor lung surgery.
The brothers were interred in Portugal last weekend, and additional details have now emerged regarding the circumstances leading up to their untimely deaths.
In a statement issued by the Civil Guard in Zamora on Tuesday, according to Sky Sports and the Mirror, it was confirmed that Jota is thought to have been the driver of the Lamborghini during the crash that resulted in the deaths of both him and Silva.
