Liverpool is set to ask for over £40 million ($54.2 million) this summer for Jarell Quansah, with Bayer Leverkusen showing interest in the young defender.The 22-year-old had a standout season in 2023–24, but his performance dipped under Arne Slot last year.
After being substituted at half-time by Ibrahima Konaté in the opening match against Ipswich Town, Quansah found it challenging to secure regular playing time with the Reds.
Despite a less impressive show in the 2024–25 season, The Athletic reports that Leverkusen, now under the guidance of former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, has included Quansah on their list of potential signings following Jonathan Tah’s transfer to Bayern Munich.
Should Leverkusen move forward, they will need to invest over €47.1 million for the Liverpool academy graduate, and any agreement would be separate from Florian Wirtz’s expected transfer to Anfield.
If they wish to bring Quansah on board, the German club will have to break their transfer record.
The report emphasizes that Liverpool “have not been looking to sell this summer,” but the interest from Leverkusen might “force them into a rethink.”
Leverkusen isn’t the only club eyeing the England Under-21 international; Newcastle United pursued him last summer as well, but Liverpool was swift to turn down their offers.

Now, they’ve finally reached an agreement for Wirtz, breaking their transfer record to bring in the talented attacking midfielder.
