Barcelona seems to have received a significant boost in their efforts to secure Luis Díaz, as Liverpool is now reportedly more open to selling the Colombian international this summer.
After a slow start to the 2024–25 season, Díaz emerged as a dependable support for Mohamed Salah, who had an outstanding individual campaign on the right for Liverpool.
The Reds have been active in the summer transfer window, with Milos Kerkez set to join Jeremie Frimpong as new full-back options, alongside Florian Wirtz, who is expected to arrive for a club-record fee.
With several departures anticipated, Díaz is among the key players from Arne Slot’s inaugural season who may be let go to make way for a squad refresh. Liverpool has already seen Trent Alexander-Arnold depart for Real Madrid.
Initially, the Reds were reluctant to part ways with the Colombian winger.
However, Spanish outlet SPORT reports that their perspective has shifted, potentially improving Barcelona’s chances of acquiring him.
Barcelona is keen to bolster their left flank, and Díaz tops their list of transfer targets this summer.
Sporting director Deco highly rates the Liverpool star, and manager Hansi Flick has reportedly given the green light for a potential transfer.
Nevertheless, Liverpool’s reported €80 million (£67.6 million, $91.4 million) valuation has been a stumbling block in negotiations.
According to the same source, Slot does not intend to include Díaz in his starting lineup for the upcoming season.
This willingness from Liverpool to allow the winger’s departure could facilitate the club’s pursuit of another significant attacking signing.
As such, Barcelona is now “fully convinced” that an agreement will be reached, either this month or next.
Although Díaz would be content to stay at Anfield, his preferred destination remains Barcelona, especially with interest from the Saudi Pro League.
