Liverpool’s left-back Andy Robertson has strongly suggested that Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth may soon join the team, yet he is “confident in his ability” to keep his position as a starter for the upcoming season.
For nearly a decade, Robertson has been Liverpool’s primary left-back, securing every significant trophy, including this year’s Premier League title.
Nevertheless, there is growing speculation that the Reds are pursuing Kerkez as a new addition to their defense.
“We’re not foolish; it appears that a deal could be on the horizon,” Robertson remarked during a conversation with BBC Scotland.
“However, until that is finalized, I have not given it much thought. I believe in myself. My confidence in my skills propels me forward.
“There are discussions suggesting that Liverpool may need to sell one of their current left-backs to accommodate Kerkez.
Kostas Tsimikas is viewed as the more likely candidate to leave, while Robertson seems determined to stay.
“I have enjoyed eight remarkable years at Liverpool, winning trophies and being a key player, which fills me with immense pride,” the 31-year-old stated.
“I may not be getting any younger, and I cannot alter my age, but I firmly believe I still have much to contribute, and that is my focus.
“I concentrate on my own performance—you cannot dwell on others or those you are competing against.”
