Barcelona is believed to be focusing on acquiring Liverpool’s Luis Díaz this summer, and the winger has been assured by the Reds that he will be permitted to leave the club if their asking price is met, according to a recent report.
While Mohamed Salah was the standout performer for the Premier League champions in the 2024–25 season, Díaz played a commendable supporting role for Arne Slot’s team as Liverpool comfortably secured the title.
The former Porto winger made 50 appearances across all competitions, contributing to 25 goals.
Nevertheless, his long-term prospects have been uncertain for a while, and Barcelona’s interest has reportedly caught the attention of the player.
Díaz has communicated to the La Liga champions that Liverpool has “promised” to sell him if they receive an offer of €80 million (£67.6 million, $91.4 million), as stated by the Spanish outlet Sport.
Currently, Barcelona is not willing to meet these conditions, but they are ready to be patient in the hope that the Reds will eventually reduce their asking price.
Hansi Flick is reported to have approved the club’s pursuit of the Colombian player, who is considered the ‘ideal fit’ for the left-wing position.
According to Sport, Díaz’s “defensive commitment” and ability to function as a centre forward are key reasons why Barcelona is eager to acquire his services this summer.
The team is in dire need of enhanced depth in wide positions, especially since Flick relied heavily on Raphinha and Lamine Yamal during the previous season.
Ferran Torres proved to be highly effective when called upon, yet the Spaniard mainly provided support for Robert Lewandowski in the forward position.
Although Liverpool’s current demands exceed what Barcelona can offer, Díaz’s apparent readiness to join has given the Catalans renewed confidence.
