Liverpool has made a significant announcement regarding a departure just days after celebrating their Premier League trophy, as confirmed by an official statement.
In Arne Slot’s inaugural season, Liverpool secured this year’s Premier League title after taking over from Jurgen Klopp.
They concluded the season 10 points ahead of Arsenal and marked their latest English league title on the final day, subsequently parading through the streets of Liverpool.
As the new season approaches, Slot will be seeking a new assistant coach.
This is due to John Heitinga’s official departure from Anfield to assume the position of head coach at Ajax.
A statement from Liverpool read: “Liverpool FC can confirm that John Heitinga will leave the club to take on the role of head coach at Ajax.
“The 41-year-old departs the Reds after one season in the backroom staff, serving as assistant coach to Arne Slot.
“He now takes on the role of head coach at his former club Ajax in his home country of the Netherlands.
