FIFA has announced that the winner of the Club World Cup will be awarded $125 million, marking the largest prize money for a club football tournament held over a seven-match format.
The Club World Cup is scheduled to occur this summer from June 14 to July 13 in the United States, with Manchester City and Chelsea representing England.
The 32 participating clubs will divide a participation prize pool totaling $525 million.
FIFA has now established a detailed model that acknowledges the contributions of each club to the tournament, resulting in varying minimum funds allocated to each team.
They consider this approach a fair method of compensating clubs according to their prominence and have collaborated with the European Club Association (ECA) to ensure alignment.
Consequently, Manchester City or Chelsea will receive a greater amount for their participation compared to Auckland City.
Additionally, there is a separate allocation of $475 million designated for sporting performance.
This amount will cover win bonuses for each match, which will be uniform across all clubs.
