Arne Slot’s precise involvement in persuading Florian Wirtz to select Liverpool over other prominent European clubs has been disclosed.
Bayer Leverkusen and Germany’s star Wirtz is poised to participate in one of the most significant transfers this summer, having garnered interest from Liverpool, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City.Manchester City seemed to view Wirtz as the ideal successor for Kevin De Bruyne but withdrew from negotiations due to concerns over the financial implications – however, it has been reported that the 22-year-old was not assured of how long Pep Guardiola would stay at the Etihad Stadium, which influenced his choice.
But while that promise was not met, a new report claims Liverpool boss Slot gave Wirtz very clear assurances which ultimately persuaded him to choose the Premier League champions over staying in Germany with Bayern.
After regaining the Bundesliga title from Leverkusen, Bayern wanted to make Wirtz their next marquee addition from a rival club and pulled out all the stops to make it happen.
