How Darwin Nunez Is ‘Planning’ for Liverpool Exit

Liverpool forward Darwin Núñez is reportedly taking proactive steps to relocate to Spain starting next season, with the aim of finalizing a transfer to Atlético Madrid.

Núñez has significantly lost favor since Arne Slot assumed management last summer.

The Uruguayan has only made eight Premier League starts in the 2024–25 season and has netted just seven goals across all competitions.

Slot has recently refuted claims that Núñez has been benched intentionally to prevent him from reaching the next milestone of Liverpool starts, which would activate an additional payment clause from the 2022 transfer deal with Benfica.

However, the player has not been in the starting lineup for nearly three months.

Liverpool is anticipated to pursue a new striker this summer, which will further diminish Núñez’s chances of playing time, especially after he has already fallen behind winger Luis Díaz in the competition for the ‘number nine’ position.
