Liverpool manager Arne Slot has made a harsh remark regarding Trent Alexander-Arnold as he prepares for what will be the right-back’s last match for his childhood club this Sunday.
The 20-time Premier League champions are poised to host the recent FA Cup victors, Crystal Palace, at Anfield, where they will raise the league trophy in front of their home supporters for the first time in 36 years – followed by a celebratory open-top bus parade throughout the city on Monday.
After the celebrations conclude, Alexander-Arnold will shift his focus to the next phase of his career with Real Madrid.
The England international intends to join the Spanish powerhouse once his contract concludes on June 30, although discussions are currently underway for Los Blancos to pay a nominal fee to secure his early transfer to the Bernabeu, allowing him to participate in this summer’s revamped Club World Cup.
However, it seems his head may have already been in Madrid long before the official announcement.
In a scathing pre-match interview, Slot admitted he hasn’t been entirely pleased with Alexander-Arnold’s attitude in training during his first 12 months in Jurgen Klopp’s seat.
During his pre-match press conference on Friday morning, his final one of his first season in charge of the Reds, Slot said.
