Jeremie Frimpong is set to finalize his medical examination with Liverpool on Monday, paving the way for his transfer to Anfield this summer, according to reports.
The Dutch defender has been chosen as Liverpool’s preferred successor to Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is moving to Real Madrid.
It was disclosed on Saturday that an agreement has been reached regarding the terms of a deal that activates Frimpong’s release clause of €35 million (£29.5 million, $39.4 million).
Progress towards the transfer is advancing, as Sky Sports News indicates that Frimpong has already traveled to England.
He commenced his medical on Sunday and will conclude the process on Monday.
The conditions of what is anticipated to be a five-year contract have been finalized, with medical evaluations being the last requirement before Frimpong’s transfer to Anfield can be officially announced.
Frimpong did not participate in Bayer Leverkusen’s final match of the season over the weekend, after which sporting director Simon Rolfes confirmed that the 24-year-old is on the verge of joining Liverpool.
