Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez has sparked excitement among Liverpool supporters following his response to being overlooked for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.
The Hungarian player has demonstrated exceptional performance for the Cherries during the 2024/25 season, playing a crucial role in their pursuit of achieving their highest-ever finish in the Premier League.
It was announced earlier today which eight players had been listed for the prestigious end-of-season award, with Cole Palmer being included despite his woeful form since the turn of the year.
Arsenal’s William Saliba, Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch and Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga also made the cut.
However, Kerkez was conspicuous by his absence, prompting fury on social media.
This led one fan to defend the full-back’s case, giving evidence as to why he should have made the final eight, stating: “Kerkez should be on the shortlist at the very least.
Ridiculous he didn’t get a nomination after the season he has had.
He ranks third for goal contributions among players aged 21 or younger and he’s a full-back.”
Among the comments on the post was one left by Kerkez himself, who seemed to make a reference to the rumours surrounding his future which have left many Liverpool supporters excited.
“Don’t worry, someone else saw it,” replied the youngster, insinuating that he had potentially impressed another manager with his performances this season.
